I'm steaming forward on my own adventure today. J is out fishing with friends and I'm going to venture forth try out new things too.
First on the agenda today was to get the mums positioned in the flower beds. I purchased three rust colored mums in various sizes yesterday afternoon. After I got them in place today, they are still in their pots until I decide to put them into the ground, I realized I needed three more mums to fill in the remaining empty spots. So today I'm going to go find red ones. I like red mums. The rust ones are pretty too but the red ones will brighten the garden up even more.
I have a hair appointment scheduled for around noon today. I need a hair cut in the worst way. With all the split ends I now have on my hair its knotting up easily and breaking even quicker when the wind picks up. I'm not planning on getting it colored, as the grey is just starting to peek through its not worth the money I'd pay out to have it professionally done when I still have a few weeks left on this dye job. So a new cut and perhaps I'll get is straightened too.
Its starting to rain. That means J might be back early since its getting to be really cold here again. I told him before he left this morning that if he catches it he has to clean it and I might cook it. Might being the word. I like fish but sometimes touching raw fish kind of grosses me out unless its sushi. Go figure that one out because I can't.
So if the rain doesn't let up I'm going to have to figure out some indoor adventure ideas, maybe some shopping would be good therapy for me. I'm kind of bummed out today. I went down a whole pound more on Thursday morning only to gain back on Friday morning 1.2 pounds and this morning I weighed another 0.2 pounds more. WTF! Yeah I'm really bummed out about that. I've been exercising too. I walked another 4 miles yesterday so I've no clue why I'm gaining back the weight. I'm so close to that first 20 pound goal and its driving me bat shit crazy to gain even a small bit back at this point.
I also need some me time due to the migraines I've been having almost every night since the 13th of August. My birth control pills give me migraines. I'm hoping the lupron injections won't make them worse. Within 30 minutes of taking my birth control pill I get a migraine. Thinking of the baby I might get to hold in my arms next July is what is getting me through this IVF cycle. I know the pain is probably only going to get worse with all the injections I'll be getting. I may have to hide in a dark corner with no loud sounds in my vicinity for the next few months.
So today its time apart so that J can relax and ditch some of the stress he is carting around. It time for me to take care of me too. I have worth, I respect me, I deserve some spoiling too and I need a hair cut!

Its All Talk
Today is just one of those days. Its grey outside. Grey would be a good thing if there were snow on the ground, but no its threatening to rain instead.
There are days like today that I feel as though if I open up there would be no one to hear me. No one to listen to what I have to say. No one to understand that I too have good ideas.
Sometimes its as though I'm talking and all they hear is "blah, blah". I've learned to keep my mouth shut about a few things I hear and see. No good would come of me talking about them and possibly it would only get others in trouble. Of course if someone was in danger you can bet I'd step up.
Today I got hit on. A supposed friend sent me an email stating that he'd like to get to know me better for a romantic relationship. This is just one instance where I feel like someone isn't listening to me. I'm married. I have a wonderful husband. If this guy were truly interested in me he'd read my profile and see that I'm married with photos of me and my spouse doing activities together. This guy proclaims "you are a very beautiful woman you really look stunning, i would like to get to know you much better. i am looking for a honest caring, faithful, generous, calm, cool and ambitious woman to start a new life with and have a very serious relationship with." I've heard that before. He goes on to tell me about his hobbies, his cheating ex-girlfriend that he now wants a serious loving relationship and basically I'm just what he's looking for. He wants me to tell him more about myself, what I want in a man and if I've ever dated on the internet, if so what was my experience.
I wrote back and told him I wished him luck in finding the love of his life. I reminded him that I'm married and I move around a lot due to the fact that my wonderful husband is a soldier. I wouldn't mind a friendship with the guy as I have a lot of friends from a wide range of backgrounds but I don't need another husband, one is just plenty for me. One is all I want. I have the one I want. I guess at my age its nice to still get some guy telling me I'm beautiful.
Yes, the main problem with marriage is that your guy sees you so often that it seems like they don't notice your looks. I swear I could walk about the house in torn sweats and snarls in my hair, of which I don't, and my spouse would only ask where the food is and when it would be ready. He loves me enough to ignore my harried appearance brought on by the drudgery of housework and only worry if it becomes a daily habit. Of course he would notice but wouldn't want to bring up my appearance for fear of upsetting me. Today he noticed right off and commented on the fact that I was wearing a sweater and skirt. Later today I have an appointment so I decided on office attire for the meeting.
So I digressed again. I do that a lot I know. Back to my main thought on folks not listening. Ever notice that your friends, not best friends but just friends, aren't there when you need to talk? You listen to them and admittedly at times are distracted with your multi-tasking. You know when to respond with an, "I understand" or "oh that's terrible". However when its your turn to vent they never seem to have the time to hear you unload. Makes me want to thin out my friends list a bit.
I'm blaming my lack of concentration on the weather today. Oh, and for those of you interested in the drama queen well she returned home within about seven hours of the ambulance pick up so its obvious that it wasn't all that serious. If it had been a miscarriage at her stage of pregnancy you can bet they would have kept her overnight. I'm inclined to believe its more of her Munchhausen's Syndrome.

Rose Water
Today I was inspired to make my own rose water. I used two of my red roses but not the white one and the recipe from Patricia Telesco's Kitchen Witch's Cookbook. It came out great. It was by no means an over powering scent.
I cooked it down on my stove at a simmer according to instructions. The petals once filtered out will now go into the compost.
This is a finished picture of the rose water amongst the drying white rose petals.
Now many of you are probably wondering what the heck I'm going to do with rose water, well I'll tell you.
Rose water can be used in cooking, stop and see this new blogger's site, Why I'll Never Again Stop To Smell Roses to find out what she created with rose water, I find it an absolutely gorgeous creation.
Roses can be used in skin care. See these articles: Beauty Secrets and Things You Can Do With Rose Water.
So now I have to decide if I want to cook with it or use it on my skin. I have really dry skin so I'm going to probably opt to use it for a cosmetic purpose though Rachel's Cake does look divine.
Because I also practice Wicca there are numerous things that I can also use my rose water for with the craft. Maybe I'll use it for cooking, craft, and beauty.
