Gay and Lesbian Marriage

Yes I'm going there.  I think gays and lesbians should be allowed to married their partners and have all the same rights as a heterosexual couple.  Aren't we all allowed the same according to the Declaration of Independence?  "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness".

I like the idea of creating more families.  I like that I am opened minded enough to not judge someone else because of their sexual preference.  I mean really does it matter to me who they love?  No.  So why should I pass judgement upon them?  I shouldn't and I won't.

I  like how Obama has decided that he will support gay marriage. However I don't like how the House Armed Services Committee banned gay marriage on the military installations.  Read more at the link below:
 http://www.military.com/news/article/obama-gay-marriage-stand-spurs-ndaa-amendments.html?ESRC=eb.nl

"On the same day that President Barack Obama declared support for gay marriage members of the House Armed Services Committee included in the Defense bill for next year measures intended to prevent gay marriages from taking place on military bases.
One amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act  provides “conscience protections” for chaplains whose religious beliefs and sponsoring agency are opposed to homosexuality and gay unions. Another amendment states that no base chapel shall be used for gay marriage or marriage-like ceremonies."

Feel free to tell me how you feel one way or the other.  If you want to vent in your comments just make sure you aren't being vulgar and I'll post it.

*Please note that I realize that my blog post have been sorely lacking in grammar and punctuation correction.  The intellectual content hasn't been the best either and I can only blame the pain I am in as the source of my bad blogging.

  1. I just posted about this exact topic last night on my facebook. I couldnt agree with you more. Love is love. There shouldnt be any person and or government authority to tell you who you can love. These couples are not hurting anyone. I could really go on about this, but I know for a fact alot of people would be offended. You shouldnt have laws based on religion views, end of story.

Btw, I hope you are feeling better!

    1. The pain is now more centered. I'll blog about that maybe soon.

      I agree Love is Love.

  2. I can't work out why people get so het up about gay marriage. The most bizarre argument is that it invalidates straight marriage... I don't understand that. If two adults want to get married its fine by me!

    1. I think its high time that in the USA we realize that marriage isn't just for the heterosexuals.

Oh and by the way its nice to see you online. I was thinking of you today and wondering how you've been.

    2. No kidding! Gay marriage is legal in the state of Ct, and my husband and I didn't just wake up and say "Gee...something about our marriage just doesn't feel quite right today somehow. It must be the gays!"

  3. Gay marriage has been legal for some time now here in Belgium. My uncle married his husband over 5 years ago. My whole family was there on their day.
I believe everyone should be allowed to get married and have children.

    1. I agree with you. Its just a travesty that we have folks hiding behind religious doctrines. That is a kettle of fish in and of itself.

  4. I totally agree with you. Marriage is a civil institution as well as a religious one. While I understand houses of religion not performing marriage ceremonies of same sex couples because it goes against their religious doctrines, the legal rights that are given to a married couple by the government should be available to everyone. (and I don't believe that it is very Christian to refuse holy matrimony to same sex couples, either, and I think that religions that aren't more progressive will just lose members over time).

    1. That is just one reason why churches are getting to be so very empty these days.

  5. I'm a supporter of gay marriage, or as I like to call it human rights ;) I find the "war on marriage" talk offensive. There is no war here, it's about two people loving each other and having the right to LOVE each other. I find the whole ban on it a violation of religious freedom too, to be honest. Why are some religious marriages recognized by our government but not others? That's just not right. Just because some Christians think gay marriage is immoral? Those Christians are not the only ones to get married, and not every religious sect believes what they do! My friend performed my wedding ceremony, I had a somewhat non-traditional Cherokee blanket ceremony. My friend that performed the ceremony? A homosexual. I loathe the irony that he can PERFORM wedding ceremonies, but in our state he is not allowed to MARRY his partner of 5 years. Who does him marrying his partner hurt anyway? Certainly not me. Or you. Or his neighbors. Or their co-workers. Or their families. I get really upset about the attitude that so many in our country take regarding gay marriage... it makes me lost some faith in humanity.

    1. I had a Native American Blessing for my ceremony. I can perform marriages. What bugs the snot out of me is that equality is basically a myth when it comes to marriage. Thankfully my home state allows every fool in love to get married.

  7. Just this week North Carolina passed "Ammendment One" which, in part, was banning same sex marriage. Unfortunately, many people didn't read past the whole gay issue. The state now only recognizes marriage between a man and woman. This will now hurt so many people...the child of unmarried parents, couples who are living together out of wedlock, and yes, homosexual couples. As one woman pointed out after the voting was over, she and her fiance now have no law behind them to allow the other to make decisions for the other in the event they were unable to speak for themselves. She and her fiance have discussed their wishes and know what the other wants. Her family lives several hours away and her children are minors. He can not sign for any surgery or medical care if nescessary. This is just the beginning of a whole lot of other problems.

Sorry for taking up so much space on your blog.

  8. Agreed! I'm really impressed with Obama taking a stand liek that. There are too many people in the world, especially politians, that are so vague about their stance on certain issues, just so they don't offend a potential voter. It's time someone did what they felt was right, I hope it doesn't hurt him in the polls.

  9. When I look @ 2 homosexual people in love I feel sad. Sad because there are people who think their love is wrong. Sad because they don't have the same rights as heterosexuals. Sad because 50 years ago, my own "mixed" relationship would be considered immoral like theirs is. My husband is south Indian (Dravidian) & Hindu; I am not. I can't imagine my life without my husband; why should they hsve to endure such hatred? How does a union of 2 consenting adults hurt anyone? I just don't get it.
