Lab Results Finally In

Hey you!
Over here!
Yes, you!
Look at me!

Me: Hello Nurse J.  Would you please schedule me for ....?
<Now that I've got your attention I'd like something done.  No don't argue with me.>

Nurse J:  who is this?  Oh sorry I thought you'd recognized my voice by now.  It's Rebecca. < I've only been going to your clinic for 4 years!>

It was one of those mornings on the phone.  Again Nurse J.  Loves to argue with me.  Had to explain in detail what I wanted.  She said they gave me all the lab results the other day.  No they didn't.

<Again, please listen.>

Me: I need the vitamin D3 levels.

Nurse J: 26.1

Me: that low?
I'd like the doctor to put me on the prescription strength D3 again.

Nurse J:Your PCM will have to do that.

Me:No he won't. My cardiologist did it last time.  Can you at least ask Dr.C?

Nurse J:No you need to see your PCM.

Me:But it affects fertility.  Shouldn't Dr. C. be told my levels are too low?

Nurse J:Fine!  I'll let him know and call you back.

Me:<won't hold my breath waiting>  Thank you.

With the D3 levels this low I now have an explanation why the fibro has been flaring so often.  Also why I haven't been able to lose weight without starving myself.  Yesterday I had two really lean meals.  Maybe a total of 600 calories for the day and I managed to lose 0.8 pounds.

I'm tired of everything.  I'm getting depressed.  Oh and btw, I do take D3 daily and I told the nurse that too.  I just forgot to mention it above.  600 IUI daily.  It obviously isn't enough.

CD1 I'll be doing another natural cycle with an IUI towards the end of the month.  Hoping the vitD3 issue won't cause more problems with the eggs.

  1. For what it's worth, I take at least 4,000 iu of Vitamin D every day during the fall/winter months, sometimes 5,000 if I feel a cold coming on. Most studies seem to show that anything less doesn't really do much -- and if you're Caucasian, you need more than those with darker skin, apparently.

    1. Yup, call me Pale Face! I may have sallow toned skin but I swear it is as pale as it can get. Rather frustrates the make-up consultants at the counters when I ask for foundation to work with my skin color.

Nurse J did call back and stated the Dr.C. would put me in for one bottle of the D3 prescription strength but that I would have to follow up with my PCM. So noted and appt. is made.

  2. I am sooo glad that you got your lab results in!! Mine was in the lower teens :C This whole time I thought I was just dealing with stress fractures and it turns out i am also dealing with rickets :C

They caught mine by accident! I was getting sleeping and I kept telling the doc that I felt physically like I was depressed but that emotionally I dont feel depressed. Apparently that is a symptom of vit d deficiency too.

I REALLY hope that getting your levels up helps you feel healthy and strong!!

    1. You've got to be careful T. I thought kids got ricketts and adults got osteomalacia?

    2. HUH i never heard of it. Well I have never heard of ricketts either though! Youre right though, when I googled it, it talks about it being for children. I am going to ask my doctor now!!

    1. Annoying isn't quite the word I had for her but it will work for now.

  5. I didn't realize that much D is needed. I drink a lot of milk and spend a lot of time outside, but I bet I should look into those levels.

I hope that your next cycle works. I know it seems like you would need a miracle, but this is the season of miracles, right? Best wishes.

    1. I use a miracle or two. I pray every day for not just my wants and needs but for family and friends.

  6. I've had to go on the 50,000iu 2x a week for 8 weeks a couple times now. Even when I was taking 1,000iu a day it wasn't enough, so now I'm on 2,000iu and I seem to be doing well (last time I was tested my levels were normal anyway).

Sorry the nurse was being difficult. Ugh.

    1. I'm not sure what level I'll be on. Wasn't able to get to the pharmacy before it closed yesterday for the weekend. I'll know on Monday.
